India’s National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is to introduce a special study module for classes 3 to 12 on Operation Sindoor, education ministry sources confirmed.
Curriculum Incorporation: This module, though additional reading and not part of textbooks, will attempt to introduce India’s strategic defense response to the Pahalgam terror attack and the nation’s defense capabilities as a whole. It is an attempt to instill patriotic awareness and bring into focus national security facts.
Module Format: The material will be 8 to 10 pages in length, divided into two age-relevant segments: Classes 3–8 Classes 9–12
Purpose and Focus: As supplementary modules and not textbook chapters, the material will recognize India’s military power and employment of its troops in counter-terror operations from current history.
This move is also consistent with broader educational goals under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes incorporating themes of national pride, recent changes, and contemporary applicability into school curricula.
